Where it's at!! Cancun is the place to be for spring break. It is the unofficial world headquarters for spring break. Me and 20 of my friends are going to be there March 22-30. Anyone wanna chill? The more the merrier!! We are staying at the Oasis hotel which is where all kinds of the coolest stuff happens. HAVE A BLAST WHEREVER YOU GO!!!
PS- The MTV stuff that goes on in Panama City is very cheesy!! Don't go there if you are expecting those events to be your main source of entertainment otherwise you will be very dissappointed.

MOUNTAIN BIKE SPRING BREAK TRIP Anyone interested in mountain biking around Florida's Lake Okeechobee? I did it last year. Wild biking. Armidillos. Turtles. Alligators. Eagles. It is a great ride and you can do other stuff too, like take an exciting air boat tour, kayak, or canoe, and fish. I am setting up a tour for Spring Break at the end of March. I went to Panama City for the hottest concert in the state which was at Club LaVela I had a good time but the best part of it was, hearing "C'mon and ride the train" by Quad city D.J. After the concert me and my friend stayed and checked out the rest of the club which was Hands Down the best, and most fun nightclub that I have ever been too in the lovely state of FLORIDA!!!!!!!

If you like Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, Cancun is the spring break destination for you except in a different country. There is plenty of neon, razorblade oaklies and muscle tees...Not only was it the cheesiest place I've ever been, but if you do make the unfortunate choice to go there - small piece of advice - hold on to everything you own for dear life! My friend happened to get her wallet stolen as well as her passport on two different occasions. Both times we were with about 10 friends from school. The weather was beautiful but for the money spent it seems there are probably better places to go. One good point great beer specials in downtown Cancun-go to Lalos and Denise for 2 for 1 Dos Equis or Corona. Gory Tacos is the best, cheapest place to eat. Senor Frogs was fun to party but DO NOT I repeat DO NOT eat there!!

What's up party people, this is Gary from St. John's University in New York. I'd like to tell you about G's and Tex's exciting adventures in Panama City in Florida. It all started in Georgia at 3am when we got a flat tire, and had no jack and were there until 6am. We got to Panama City later that day and didn't stop drinking, smoking, and partying until we left on Saturday. The sun was shining, the girls were beautiful, and the scenes were awesome. My first night out, I woke up in the back seat of a minivan 5 miles from my hotel. I guess you can figure out how the rest of my week went? The clubs were excellent, however expensive like everything else. Club La Vela rocks. If you go, check it out. My trip ended the way it started off, in Georgia, on I95 my transmission blew, and me and three of my friends were stuck in Brunswick, Georgia on Easter Sunday. We all got turkey sandwiches from subway, however it wasn't like mom's cooking. We then hitchhiked 150 miles so we could rent a U-Haul, and tow my truck back to New York. After many month of indecision (where the f*** am I gonna get the cash for this...whose all going again?......My dad's gonna kill me if I go blow $400 bucks on Spring Break after I just got that speeding ticket......How are we gonna get there? My Spring Break
Well, here it is, I'll only write it once, the story of my Spring Break:-
Day 1 (Sat)
Caught bus to St Louis, bus station in very bad part of town, had to barter with a few taxi drivers but got a lift to the hostel. Met Tommy, Daigo and Jim, who were in the hostel at the time. Tommy was here for an interview for med school, Daigo was a Japanese tourist and Jim was checking out St Louis looking for a place to move to. It was 11PM so I went to bed.

Howdy all :) I am a 21-year-old gay college student going on his first Spring Break, since I can finally afford it :) YAY!! I've decided to go alone to Key West, Florida, so I can truly relax and enjoy myself. However, I need some information and recommendations. I wouldn't recommend a cruise for anyone who wants to drink. Most of the
cruise lines have raised the drinking age to 21. The best line for the
young partier, though, would be Carnival. I was on the Carnival Fascination
(a newer ship -- 1 year old) that hit 6 Caribbean ports -- San Juan, St.
Thomas, Grenada, Guadaloupe, Caracas and Aruba. Hang out at the pool on
the back of the ship, get a bucket of beer, and you're set. -- Steve Schultz

Its getting to be that time again to plan for spring break. I am planning on either Panama City or Daytona. I have heard very good things about both the cities and I have been told that I would have fun if I went to any of them.
I have never gone on Spring Break and I am sure I will have fun if I went to either one of them, however, I was wondering if anyone could tell me truly which is the best spring break spot. (No, I do not want to fly away to Mexico or anywhere else. I am sure it would be fun, but would lighten the wallet much more than I planned. Please give me feedback only on PC and Daytona.)
I heard Daytona was slightly warmer and cleaner, however, PC is cheaper and more popular. Any thoughts or ideas would be greatly appreciated.:)

Spring break came around, and like on many North-eastern college campuses,
ideas of warm water and beaches came to mind. After three of us had planned
since the summer to go south for spring break (o.k. maybe it was a week
before hand), I suggested the other two members of the party get a re-usable
mug too. Ken, who I lived with, went out and bought one at a local convenience
store. Tony, who lived in Vermont, couldn't find one. When we got down
into North Carolina, I found a black Texaco Mug, shaped just like mine.
Much to Ken's dismay, we laughed at him often for having such a silly looking
reusable mug. They were serving their purpose though. By the end of the
trip, we were thankful that some biker 'friends' that were staying below
us bought us pizza one night or else we would have gone for several days
without food. One day, after enjoying the local sun and sights on Daytona
beach, we went stumbling down a main road with (*gasp*) clear plastic cups
full of a fruity-alchoholy-drink, we found ourselves in the back of an
undercover detectives car. If we had only had our lonely, non- translucent,
lidded mugs, we would all be a hundred bucks richer, and none the wiser
about underage drinking laws! [disclaimer : I am not condoning underage
drinking. Like everyone else that has turned the magic number, I don't
remember why we should let underage people drink anyway!] And so went spring
break 89. After a week of madness, we were back to the proverbial grindstone.
The only difference was that my mug started to have quite the history behind
it. It had now been through and too eleven states, and had overnighted
in five of them. It was (and still is) a travelling companion, that paid
for itself many times over. Both Tony and I began to use it even more often.
His also started to collect a couple worn out bracelets. These truly were
living up to their name 'travel mug'. Dandelion Day, 1990: The University
of Rochester has (for at least a couple more years!) its spring fest at
the end of April. This particular day was sunny at first, but it certainly
clouded up before long. I can still remember later in the day, somebody
in the Wailers saying "We cont play in the rain mon--we cont play
in the rain". Tony and I started out the festivities early with another
friend, Kevin. By noonish, we were well on our way to being incomprehensible,
so Tony and I took off--to see a water fountain (as if the elephants, rides,
music, and games weren't enough to keep us amused. We watched a little
field hockey and discussed our mutual plans to retire to the University
of the Virgin Islands for a year (yes it does exist. a week before I was
supposed to go, I still didn't have a place to stay, so I reluctantly stayed
here. Tony went, but not for very long.) Then we started out for The Water
Fountain (you remember, drain on the floor...). We had our travel mugs
in hand, cool beer being kept cool by one of the amazing properties of
the mug. We had been discussing many things. The mugs came up alot. Both
of us had some funny times when we were using them. And of course our spring
break trip. Another thing that kept coming up was the environment, and
particularly how the cups were something all of our friends should have
so that they didn't keep using plastic and cardboard cups (just think of
parties where 300 people use a plastic cup for a few hours then throw it
away, now think of the number parties a weekend, then the number of weekends
until you graduate...). This mug was a small solution to a large problem,
not to mention the fact that you get rebates at alot of stores. There is
a building on our campus. Above the main door, carved in stone is a name.
As we were walking by, to see that water shoot up four feet, Tony raised
his left arm (with his mug in hand) and said 'Hark'. Not knowing what to
hark, he hark-ed the other part of the name. The name of the building being
HARKNESS. Suddenly we realized the significance (even if you don't yet
:-) ) He raised his arm and said hark like -in his words- a 'shakespeare
dude'. That very instant, our 'mugs' took on the name 'ness'. There are
many reasons why this stuck. We realized that the ness suffix was extremely
important to language (not just english, you should try reading Buddhist
literature written in Sanskrit and Pali, without -ness). It characterizes
the essence of a given object (note essence is a backwards ness word!).
Through the mug, we were/are trying to promote awareness, environmentalness,
happiness, compassionateness, and usefulness--among any other ness word
you can think of! It is the perfect name for our mug and philosophy because
you see 'ness' written everywhere in books, and newspapers. The next time
you see 'ness' written elsewhere, you will have a hard time not remembering
this story. And no matter what you think of this story (insane - strange
- funny - or 'wow, I could help the environment by getting one of those
nesses, using it, and letting other people know about it') you will have
to at least smile a little bit just to think of the 80+ people (some even
out of the country) spredding the 'ness' philosophy just by having one
and telling others. [There is an *immense* amount of philosophy behind
ness by now, and it would be hard to pinpoint any other commonalities.Every
person involved, has contributed to this phlosophy, just as they have taken
something from it.] We thought alot more about it that day, and with the
help of our friend Kevin we came up with these 'rules'. The thing that
made our nesses look different than Ken's mug (remember Ken, from my spring
break), was that both Tony's and mine were made by : Aladdin MFG in Nashville
Ten_ness_ee. This can be gotten off the bottom of the ness where it says
: Aladdin Nashville, TN 37210 U.S.A. Patent Number 3,684,123 6 Ken's, needless
to say, was not made by Aladdin, and it certainly didn't have the same
patent number. Both Tony's ness (bought in NC) and mine (bought in CO)
had the same number (the 6) under the patent number. These are evidently
lot numbers or something. Since there are many numbers, it denotes a brother
or sister ness. It is interesting to see the relationships which develop
between brother/sister ness holders! I have seen people jump up and down
and hug each other (not to mention power social which will be discussed
elsewhere) when they find a new brother ness holder! The rules are easy,
but NECESSARY ( thats a strange ness word!). If you too become a disciple
of ness, please make sure everyone you enlighten knows them. These aren't
in order, they are all important : - Everything on the bottom should be
memorized (except the zip), also many people call the patent number the
serial number, oh well. - You can _NOT_ buy yourself a ness. Nesses are
to be bought by you and GIVEN to other people (along with the story!).
So find yourself a friend, show them this story and go out and buy each
other a ness. My purchase in CO, was the only one of its type, and every
ness since then has been given away (including my new one). - Should an
important decision have to be made while people with nesses are present,
_everyone_ gets only _one_ vote. Us founding fathers included, but these
rules must not be changed. - You can adorn your ness in any manner, except
you can't cover the bottom, because that is the distinguishing characteristic.
Mine has a 'diver down' sticker, and a couple old bracelets. Tony's has
a Univ. of the Virgin Islands sticker, a Phish sticker, a diver down, bracelets,
and a couple black balloons from Art the Balloonatic at Arrowhead ranch
(he likes his works to be colorful, and for anyone who goes to Arrowhead,
make sure you tell the management "We want more of the Balloonatic").
Kevin's has a really cool Alice in Wonderland sticker (it took him some
time to put that on!), a recycle sticker, a diver down, a skydiving one,
and some cool blue- spackeling where he had to repair his handle with epoxy
(he says that you can microwave soup and water in your ness, but not if
you have a reflective sticker on it, his diver down became a cool tumor).
That about sums them up. We didn't want many rules, but with out this minimum
you get anarchy. Any mug that isn't a ness is called a 'Psuedoness', and
just to give you an idea of what we think of them, we had a psuedo-ness
toss at Ness Fest 91. Nesses also come in different sizes. Our size is
20-22 oz (they say different things at different places!). There is a smaller
version, which is very popular at some convienence stores, there are also
much bigger ones ("hugeness"), we even acquired a pitcher style
ness on United Airlines, with a pitcher top, that they used for coffee.
All of these are called serial-nesses due to the fact that they have the
same patent number (remember that little mistake I talked about?). The
20- 22 oz one is the one you want. You can easily fit a can (I mean the
aluminum and all) into a ness, and put on the lid, it keeps it cold before
you open it and pour it into your ness. But remember that if your trying
to help the environment, the fountain stuff is cheaper, and doesn't have
the can waste (I haven't looked into the other parts of the fountain though,
but I know those kegs are reused for a *long* time--and if you know anyone
who throws them out, let me know, many homebrewers would be happy to have
them :-) ) We really just want you to think more about the environment.
For us, the constant use of our ness allows us to think about it, and to
tell others about it. Plus it is a storehouse of good memories. Some of
which I may share later. Once again, if you do get one, and start letting
other people know about it, let us know. I would like an address where
I could send a newsletter, or a person to see on a road trip! The same
goes for you. If your coming our way (the whole North-east), let us know.
We've got extra blankets and floor space, and sometimes even stuff to put
into nesses. We'd love to see everyone at Ness Fest next year. -

Four of us (two couples) are considering spending a week at Hidden Valley in the third or fourth week of April for Spring break. It would be a change of pace from our usual Spring trip to Paradise Lakes, and probably a whole lot cheaper. We'd appreciate information on the weather, activities, etc for that time of year. Is the resort up and going at that time? We've been there in the Summer and stayed in the Park Homes, and had a great time. Just want to know if late April is pushing it. The Humtones, Haverford College's oldest all-male a cappella group, are wistfully waiting and thinking of their upcoming spring break. We are hoping to make our way to Memphis, with as many stops along the way as possible. We are eleven jovial singers, ever happy to see a crowd, a party, and a full bottle of beer.
I am writing this letter in the hopes that you, attentive reader that you are, will offer to host us along our way. We ask for very little: only that the road to Memphis is kept relatively straight. Haverford is located in Philadelphia, so we may be travelling through Delaware, North Carolina, Maryland, Virginia, and of course Tennessee.
Hopefully someone out there knows of a group at Vanderbilt, and Rhodes and they could funish me with contacts. Our break begins March 8 and ends March 18, so we will be touring during that week.
