Spring Break Las Vegas - MTV vs. MGM

If the room rate plays a big part in making your Spring Break destination decision, you should take a look at Las Vegas this year. MTV and tour operator Student City have teamed up this year at the Palms Hotel and the MGM Grand, Mandalay Bay, New York-New York, Monte Carlo, Luxor and Excalibur are banding together to offer their own Spring Break extravaganza.

MTV's Headquarters Hotel during MTV's Spring Break 2011, is the The Palms Casino Resort. The Palms Casino Resort was also the host to the 2007 MTV VMA's and The Real World: Las Vegas. The hotel is located on the west side of Interstate 15 about 1.3 miles off the strip.

During the MTV's Spring Break 2011 event, there will be concerts & celebrity pool parties and Nick Cannon, host of "America's Got Talent will" do two shows on March 5th. Access to the pool parties will be controlled and if you want to be guaranted access to the poolside events and parties you have to book through Student City.

MTV is bringing its raucous annual special Spring Break to Las Vegas...

SPRING BREAK EVENTS IN VEGAS

MGM Resorts also has a two month schedule of Spring Break events that anyone can attend, no matter the hotel they book including the Red Bull Soundclash.

Red Bull Soundclash is a totally unique clash of sounds, styles and creativity, where two bands don't battle each other, but instead collaborate to create an innovative live music performance. featuring first-time ever match ups between Cee Lo Green and the Ting Tings.

The March 12th show will feature two bands with different music styles (e.g. Hip Hop vs. Electronic) facing off on two stages positioned on opposite ends of the venue with the audience in the middle.  In a series of four rounds, the bands perform various tasks, some rehearsed, and some improvised, to showcase the array of their musical abilities.

Top Ten Tips for Vegas

Shuttle buses from the airport cost $5 to Strip hotels and $7 to downtown hotels per person. Downside is that it can take over an hour to get to your hotel. A taxi to the Strip hotels will cost you about $15 and downtown hotels will run you $20+ but you will arrive at your hotel a lot quicker.

You can check into some hotels at the airport baggage claim area. If you're staying at Ballys, Caesars Palace, Flamingo, the Hilton, MGM Grand, New York New York, or Paris you can check into your hotel while you are waiting for your bags in the baggage claim area of Terminal 1.
